WITS (Week In The Space) is an oppourtunity for artists to work in the PW downspace for one week! PW solicits proposals from students to make any type of art that excites them. Usually, this project happens in the spring, but it may vary from year to year.

If you are interested in applying for this year's WITS slot, reach out to Yong or Matt at or They will set you up with a board buddy to support you with the application process.

proposal guidelines

Please remember that these guidelines are suggestions, not laws written in stone. We recommend taking them into consideration because they cover issues that often surface in both proposal and production processes. The most important part of your proposal is of course your commitment to it, the energy and thought you have invested, and that you are ready to invest in the production process.

Keep in mind that we are not looking for long, elaborate answers to these questions (although, please write as much as you want/need to). A brief statement communicating esssential ideas will do; many of these questions can be sufficiently addressed in a page or less. But again, write as much as you need to in order to fully address these issues. Above all, be thoughtful and have fun with your proposal!

  1. The Basics
  2. Title (even if it is just a working title), author (if there is one), director/coordinator, your phone number (please include this, we will need it to let you know the outcome of the proposal meeting), and your email.

  3. Main Body
  4. Consider the following questions:

  5. Budget
  6. As this project is given $300, please include a budget break down that does not exceed this amount. If your budget will eventually be larger than this, please include how you intend to get more money and what you plan to do with it. This breakdown should include costs for rights (if applicable), props, costumes, set construction, publicity, photocopying, etc. Please try to estimate as close to the actual costs as possible. If your project includes a script for which rights should be obtained, let your board buddy know as soon as possible.

  7. Staff
  8. For your proposal, please try to fill out as many of these positions as possible and necessary:

Board members may be able to provide you with names of people who might be interested in these positions. Please talk to us!
