"Production Workshop Minutes"

21 november 1976

Present: all except Evie and Barb
Visiting: Barbara Ensor and Monica Mills

Barbara Ensor will be proposing a play she wrote herself which she termed as an allegory dealing with Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella and Life at Brown. She said she wanted to propose with John Gyory who also wants to propose his own play. We were told that they are each 45 minutes long.

Monica Mills brought a tape of 8 songs from the show that she wants to do second semester. She will place it on non-circulating reserve at Lyman.

Sharon's show will open on December 10th which means it will only be running one weekend.

A request to borrow chairs from Zeta Psi was rejected, due to the fragility of the chairs. This led to a discussion of fixing our alread broken chairs. Ben will contact Arthur Gordon in B & G to see if someone can help us.

There was a discussion of next meeting's proposals — Ben suggested having one chairman recognize both proposals and other board members.
In choosing the plays we will be taking many things into consideration, amongst them, cast size, cast breakdown, level of experience.
Is PW becoming Summer Stock? This question was asked by Bruce Tracy in reference to a remark by J. Lucas. Nora said we should take it into consideration in choosing the next shows. Kate said it should not be crucial factor.

Getting back to the chairs. We are going to ask S & B to help fund them.

Director's “packets” are going to be made up before the 5th (Evie?)
Judd is evolving a producer's “packet”
Ben thinks that you cannot make up a comprehensive pamphlet that would apply to every show. So, questions should still be asked by the prospective producers — the packet will not be the be-all and end-all.

Kate is going to keep track (as PW librarian) of all sheets printed up as well as the programs, proposals and reviews of every show. She has already been doing the latter.

It was decided that Evie should go through past minutes to pull out relevant decisions on PW policies (if we made any in the past few years, that is). Go to it, Evie.

DIRECTORS WHO ARE PROPOSING FOR NEXT SEMESTER. SIGN UP FOR A TIME SLOT IN WHICH YOU WILL BE MAKING YOUR PROPOSAL. THE SIGN-UP SHEET IS ON THE PW BULLETIN BOARD (OR RATHER, DOOR) NEXT TO PW.

Bruce Tracy will be chairing the next few meetings. Good luck, Bruce.

Your favorite flagrantly grandiose librarian,
Katrina XOX (in Evie's absence)

Word.
