"Production Workshop Minutes"

19 September 2004

In attendance:
Immer, Drumsta, Maya, Ross, Biagini, Reese, Joe Posner

Board attendance solution? Maybe moving meeting times? If you are going to miss a meeting, e-mail the WHOLE board in advance, so that if enough people aren't going to be there we can change the time. Obviously, people who aren't here now have great excuses, but maybe we all need to make an effort to try to keep other theatre activities from being scheduled during 1:00pm Sunday.

1st Slot

  • Sunday - Immer HM, Tess
  • Monday - Drumsta HM, Todd - Drumsta can't do Monday, she'll call Todd or Mikey and try to work it out.
  • The ushering idea didn't really work. We have had one or two people, but not a huge crowd.
  • Last night's midnight show audience was tiny. 15 people. But good.
  • Strike is at 10:00.
  • Strike List:
    • Running strike - Maya
    • Upspace - immer
    • Electrics/Sound - Todd
    • Shop - Ross
    • Costumes/green room - Drumsta
    • Props/office - Reese
    • Furniture - Bia
    • Downstairs - Tess/Mikey

2nd Slot: They auditioned. The audition pool was great. Callbacks are tonight 7-11pm.

3rd slot: reese will mentor.

3C2C: Due tonight. Directors Sept 26 but must e-mail Immer.

  • last week was a nightmare. How do we feel about having guests in the upstairs space?
  • Drumsta: It was a disaster, but it was a big hit.
  • Immer: I think this space is for Brown artists.
  • Drumsta: The people come through Brown students.

Upstairs Space: New policy, different PW board member works on each show, it rotates around.

New Members: Bia and Mikey know it is coming up. They're on it. We can't set a time because not enough people are here.

Grants: No new grants.

Space Maintenance: The lock is still not fixed in the paint room.

Joe Posner: The documentary over the summer blossomed into a bigger thing than he had predicted. He plans to use his upstairs space time for a rock show. He is trying to talk to a band, maybe Lightning Bolt. He was also thinking about a few Brown bands. Friday the 5th. Emily will be the liason to Joe Posner about stuff.

Palimpsest: Tell actors to show up. Directors too. Drumsta will put it in the e-mail again.

Momentum: Mikey and Reese have a basic outline and are meeting with j. Austrian on Wednesday. They'd like to start next week.

  1. Hot room - Mold. Immer's recommendation: move everything possible out of the hot room and into the downstairs space, call university mold people.

  1. This Friday at noon is the first meeting with people who want the building for the summer. They'd like a few people there. The meeting is at the SAO. Ross and Drumsta will be there. Reese will be there. Todd or Immer will be there to look out for the lights/sound.
  2. Maya would like to get more crosby clamps. Go for it, Maya.
  3. We should think about new-duv. Emily said she'd look into it last week. And now she will.

  1. Propose to open Thursday invited dress to a limited amount of Hope High School students.
    • Immer: I think this would be weird to mandate, but good to offer for directors.
    • New policy, Reese offers this to each director, sees if they like it, takes care of it.

  1. Ross was talking to Phil O, and Phil was fine with us doing something with the gallery outside the downstairs space. Maybe we should start thinking about installing something down there.
    • Maybe this a really good chance to put up posters and pictures from the show?
    • Maybe we should open this up for visual artists from across campus as a gallery space?
    • Maybe old show-posters? Archives? PW history wall?
    • Let's mull and bring it up next week.

the PW board is: Matt Biagini, Maya Bruhns, Ross Cowan, Emily Drumsta, Adam Immerwahr, Tess Lantos, Todd Lipcon, Michael Perlman, Reese Smith, Brian Christian (on leave), Garland McQuinn (on leave), and Blair Nelsen (on leave).
