"Production Workshop Minutes"

21 November 2004

11.15pm

In attendance: Whoops, I forgot to do that. But Maya, Mikey, Tess and Todd were gone. And Gabby was visiting. And Erica Rotstein was there. Immer owes two boxes of donuts. Will be repaid in installments.

MF

  • TD's should e-mail build times to Drumsta
  • The MF Bozo will be there every night and run the box office: Lauren Robbins
  • MF will check out its usher situation and let PW know if it needs help
  • Some poor kids asked for free tickets. MF says no.

Immer's Paint Rant: Okay, so when they re-did the building, they painted both of our performance venues with satin or semi-gloss black paint. Which is not so great for theatre (cause it bounces light and it is much less forgiving to painting and repainting). After Rebecca's museum installation last year, her staff re-painted the bottom 8 feet of the downstairs space walls flat black paint. It doesn't match. It looks silly. Okay, so the majority of the set of George is a 6-8 foot scaffold that goes around the entire room. If there ever was a time to re-paint the TOP half of the walls (the 8 feet between where the satin starts and the grid), this is it. At strike, we could buy a bunch of rollers and a bunch of pans, and just send 10 people to each get as much wall as they could. Then we could do the rest over break. What do you think?

General discussion. Immer talked to the TD's (yes) and to MF (they'll think about it). We'll also ponder, and we'll decide next Sunday. Immer says: “Look, if we ever want to do it, this is the time.”

First Slot: No big news. Reese proposing. Danielle not. Shortsleeves next semester. Maybe two others, although we're enjoying the one-proposer tradition. DRUMSTA - FIGURE OUT ABOUT HOUSING (you told me to write that in caps)

Upstairs space (please note, heavy sarcasm below)

  • Did everything get returned from Dead White Men?
  • Editorial Comment: It is a good thing that somewhere in the world, there is a group protecting the literature of dead white men. Otherwise, they'd never get performed…
  • They broke a light bulb in the furniture room. Maya, you on it?
  • Susie Abraham might be doing her show. We'll see.
  • COBAB - Cancels. Shock and surprise to all…

Palimpsest: Has stopped, Drumsta is disenchanted.

Business: Matt won't be here Jan 30th.

Vision Meeting: Thursday, December 9th. 10:00pm. Potluck. Reese's place.

TAPE: Reese is gonna order it. One case of gaff tape (we'll need it soon enough), a bunch of 1/4inch spike tape and two rolls of glow.

Phil is on the rocks. I don't know what that means.
OH. Locks. Phil is on the locks. Working on them. This is why I need my computer when I take minutes - my handwriting stinks.

That's it. I'm going back to reading Non-Shakespearean verse plays performed by the Lord Chamberlain's King's Men between 1592-1612, in order to see if any have a “limiting scene” of 12 adult male actors.
Yours,
Immer
