"Production Workshop Minutes"

24 feb 2002

Attendance: Mac, Gayle, Cari, Lila, Rebecca, Neil, Jessie, Nancy Austrian, Gabe, Dov, Sam, Sophie, Reed, Lela

Reed Aubin: writing an experimental theater piece for Capstone project. Let people non-vicariously experience fishing. Can we have help for publicity? Yeswell put you in the email. Prop? Costumes? Yes, just need a deposit and clearance from whoever the 4th slot PM is. Lights? You can borrow the small board that Neil built by putting down a deposit.

2nd Slot: Set is almost done. Focusing/trouble shooting today. Everyone happy on this project. They want a Sat midnight show, not drunk or crazy. The show is about 1 hour long. Plan on having it but not publicizing itthat way if no one comes, its ok. They are really on top of publicity!

WITS: Do they get the upspace? Times all set for the rep run. Still working on logistics of tech staff. Gabe let Daveed know about Jonathan B. Looking for run crew.

Sophies show: Tuesday=Gabe, Wednesday=Cari, Wednesday 12=Seth, Thursday=Gayle. Shows at 8 pm , 25 minutes long. Leah will rehearse after.

Leahs Show: Friday=Seth, Saturday=Gayle, Sunday=?

4th Slot decision meeting: Board at 9am, interviews 9.45, 10.15, 11.00, 11.30.

Calendar for Next Year: (Cari and Gabe?) We need to decide what we want on the calendar. 3c2c first semester downstairs? Work in Progress semester 1 upstairs, and semester 2 downstairs? Do some of our own (PW sponsored) stuff upstairs? Lottery/application procedure for upspace? Make people share weekends?

Business:

Sam: Door doesnt suck anymore.

Alex: Mac's dimmer idea (buy new dimmer pack and new board) hold off and get mainstage board/s? Lets hold off on board till Sept but go ahead with dimmers. Should someone else help Mac with this? Install it over Spring Break? Cari and Gayle should get involved to learn about it for the future. Week before WITSWIP can rehearse in Russell 7-11, Monday=free upspace for Daveed and Kerry

Seth&Jessie: momentum is Tuesday. Bring scenes.

Alex: Mentoring discussion

  • Sam: read it like a copy editor, like you want it to be proposed and the board doesnt like it, like you wrote and want it to be perfect, as if you dont understand it at all
  • Alex: read it like you have a perspectivewhat is your reaction to it? Make their thoughts grammatical, help them flesh it out, be excited.
  • Neil: ability to impart vision when describing moment from show, describe it from as many angles as possible, well-rounded.

4thSlot: (Sam) Glengarry is being done in Bostondoes that mean no rights for us? Sen check anyway and say we didnt know?

Neil: Meeting with chair of creative writing, Forrest Gander, to talk about the new theater and why things have been happening and what the building is. Suggestions? Ideas? Email them to Neil.
Sam: Are there electrics, props, sound people?
Alex: works when people treat students as peers, with respect
Lila: open house to build up community of people who want to work there

Supplies: We need more gaffe tape and a bolt of duvatine. Mac did get tie line. Ask Mac to get duvatine.
