PW really really really really wants to give you money. We do! If you’re an artist who could use some money and/or other resources for a project, come talk to us! PW grants have been used for projects as diverse as literary magazines, art installations, architecture projects, and theater performances. Grants contact: Justin.

GRANTS OVERVIEW
Purpose:
PW grants exist to facilitate the production of artistic material that cannot be produced within PW’s standard season. Part of PW’s goal in establishing the grants program is to welcome artistic projects that either do not fit, or only vaguely fit into the realm of “standard theater.” PW also strongly encourages the applicants to use the grant money for artistic projects of a political and/or socially relevant nature. That said, all applications for grants, regardless of content, will be considered.
General:
PW has allocated 400 dollars a semester for grants. No single grant may receive more than $200. At the beginning of every semester, PW will elect a grants subcommittee of at least three board members. This subcommittee will choose which projects are to be awarded funds. As there is no formal deadline for grant applications, it is in the applicants’ best interest to apply early in the semester while the greatest number of funds are still available.
Process:
Grant applications are accepted throughout the semester and should be handed to one of the members of the grants subcommittee at one of PW’s regularly scheduled Sunday meetings at 1pm in the Upstairs Space. When turning in the application the applicant will be asked to say a few words to the board describing his/her project (but, just a few words). The grants subcommittee will reach a decision during the week, and notify the entire PW board of its decision at the following Sunday meeting. After this meeting, the applicants will be notified of the subcommittee’s decision. Those who are awarded grants will receive money through the SAO’s purchase order system.
Important:
The PW grants are for money. No space and/or equipment belonging to PW are promised to those awarded grants. These materials are often available however, and if the applicant is interested, he/she should specify this in the grant application. If the applicant would like to use the PW (e)mailing list to invite people to see the proposed project, he/she should let the board know no later than the last Sunday meeting before the event.
Extra:
In the name of spreading the word about grants, PW humbly asks that you acknowledge, as you see fit, that your project was made possible, at least in part, by a grant from Production Workshop. This is not a requirement. In addition, the board asks that you invite its members to see what was created.
